Senior engineers on subscription.
Software that ships to production.
Bluebox Studio is a small UK product team. AI helps us move faster — senior engineering makes sure what we build is stable, deployed, and yours to keep.
For businesses priced out of
custom software.
I started Bluebox Digital in 2019 after working across a wide range of clients — from the NHS to venture-backed SaaS companies to American fintech firms. The projects were different, but those organisations had the budget to deliver good software end to end — senior people, enough runway, and a process that could actually ship.
Most businesses never had that luxury. AI-assisted development is changing that. The economics have shifted in a way that’s hard to overstate. What used to require six months and a team of eight can now ship in six weeks with two people — without compromising on quality, security, or maintainability. The cost of building software has come down substantially.
That’s what Bluebox is built around. AI-accelerated workflows, fast response times, and agents that share context across the whole project. One flat monthly rate — pause when you don’t need us, scale when you do. We run lean so you don’t pay for the parts you don’t use.
— Ben Wright, founder

Ben Wright · Founder, Bluebox Digital
I started as a developer.
I became a product engineer.
Bluebox is me — Ben Wright — plus a small bench of senior collaborators I bring in when a project needs extra hands. I embed with founding teams and product orgs to take ideas from the first commit to real users: eight years of enterprise work, sole technical founder behind OnlyScrans, and frontend lead on PLT Marketplace from zero to 150k users.
Eight years of shipping production code gave me a strong technical foundation. With AI in the workflow, implementation is less of a bottleneck than it used to be. What still moves the needle is product judgement: asking “why are we building this?” before opening the editor, tightening the brief, and delivering something end-to-end that solves a real problem — not just another feature merge.
That’s the personal standard behind every Bluebox engagement. You work with someone who has shipped at scale and cares about the right solution for users.
Six principles behind
every engagement.
Not a manifesto — just how we run projects so clients get senior delivery, sensible tech, and room to leave if it stops working.
The same senior team from kickoff to delivery.
You work directly with engineers who scope, build, and ship — not a sales layer that hands off to someone else once you’re signed up.
A stack we know, not whatever’s trending.
We stick with tools we’ve shipped on for years and can spin up fast. Trendy frameworks often look clever but add cost and risk you don’t need for the job at hand.
You get ownership when you subscribe.
During the trial you see clear progress on agreed priorities — walkthroughs and updates, not slide decks. Once your subscription starts, repos, infra, and accounts sit in your name and stay there. Cancel later and you keep everything we’ve shipped.
Async first.
Calls are for decisions, not check-ins. Most progress happens in writing, on your time — so work can move without lining up calendars.
Progress you can see.
Runnable updates regularly — deploys, walkthroughs, pull requests — not a deck about what we’ll build next quarter. Steady loops, adjusted as your production needs become clear.
You’re not tied in.
Month to month, agile delivery. If the value isn’t there, stop — no exit clauses, no penalty periods, no awkward unwind. We’d rather earn the next month than contract you into it.
What we reach for first.
Not a list of buzzwords — the actual tools running the projects we shipped last year. Open to others when there’s a good reason.
